Agnitron Technology Invited To Present At The LED 50th Anniversary Symposium
August 22, 2012, Eden Prairie, MN
Agnitron Technology, Inc. announced today that it has accepted an invitation from the LED 50th Anniversary Symposium planning committee to provide a talk, “1963 InGaAsP to Today’s AllnGaNAsP Alloy for LED and Laser Applications,” during the Alloy Laser Pioneers session at the upcoming event. The symposium takes place October 24-25th in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, USA and is a celebration of the contributions made by researchers for the advancement of LEDs and related devices such as lasers since Nick Holonyak Jr.’s groundbreaking work 50 years ago.
“We are excited to be recognized for our contributions to advancing quaternary crystal material development,” said Dr. Andrei Osinsky, President and CEO. Work done by one of Agnitron Technology’s strategic business and technology advisors, Dr. Vladimir Osinsky, and his team in the 60’s stood on the shoulders of Holonyak and pioneered techniques for enabling expanded technological freedom of compound semiconductor materials by advancing from ternary GaAsP to quaternary AlInGaNAsP crystal heterostructures. Dr. Andrei Osinsky went on to say, “The significance of this early work yielding quaternary InGaAsP is demonstrated by the fact that this material is still widely used and has enabled the great success of telecommunications infrastructure. We are committed to continue this legacy of innovation through our advanced material and device R&D projects.”
The symposium is an international who’s who of the compound semiconductor industry as several industry celebrities and power brokers including three Nobel Prize in Physics winners are expected to be in attendance. Up to 400 individuals are anticipated to attend the event. More symposium information can be found here at the official event website.
